How to get the best value from ISOC
Tips and information to make using ISOC easier. There are over 500 articles and features on ISOC. This can be confusing and intimidating to new and old members. Treat this web site like you would a library or favorite book store. Stroll around by clicking on items or articles that interest you. There is a wealth of information on ISOC. The more you use it the more you will find. Visit ISOC regularly - at least twice a month.• To make accessing ISOC easier - make it a favorite by clicking on "Add" or "Add favorite" under favorites. • Even easier is to right click on the ISOC banner/logo and then scroll down to "Set as desk top item". Click on "Set as desk top item" and the ISOC icon will appear on your desktop; then you can click on this icon and go directly to the ISOC home page each time you want to access ISOC. If used, it allows members to access the combined wisdom of other ISOC members, Lynn Carlisle, and the ISOC advisory board. It is a quid pro quo site; you first have to give by participating to receive the benefits.To access past articles, go to "Article index" under "About" in the UL corner of the home page. All of the past articles on ISOC are posted here starting from the most recent to the oldest.
Longer articles are 25% easier to read if you print them. Click "Printer friendly version" and then click print. You can read the articles any time and share them with team members. Print articles for team meetings. Use them as discussion points for your team meetings. Give team members your ISOC user name and password, so they can access it from home or the office on down times. *Remember only one person can be logged on to ISOC at a time.• To utilize the search feature, click on "Search" at the top or bottom of the ISOC page and type in the word or phrase you are looking for and the ISOC soft ware will show you all of the articles in which the word or phrase appears. • Look under "Departments" and click on the department you are interested in; a list of articles will appear that are in that department. • To send an article to a friend or recommend ISOC to a colleague, click on "Tell a Friend" at the top or bottom of the page and fill out the information in the pop up box. • To subscribe to the free bulletin, fill in your e-mail address in the upper right corner of the home page and you will receive it weekly or bi-weekly. • Go to "Member resources" under "Resources" on the member page for your transactions history, to edit or cancel your account and resources the ISOC recommends. • The number one problem subscribers have is forgetting their user name and password to ISOC. If you click the "Remember my ID on this computer" box on the log in page the software will remember your password. Do this after you have entered your user name and password.
