Lynn Carlisle DDS, HW

Lynn Carlisle, DDS is the head wizard (HW), publisher, editor, writer and webmaster of In a Spirit of Caring.

Lynn has been a information maven all his life - Kirsten, his wife, calls him a pack rat. He has kept all of the information he has gathered over his dental career in boxes in his basement

Pure Gold Articles and the world wide web - a perfect match

Many of these are pure gold including many classic articles by the dental masters.

Then along came the world wide web. Now, instead of having this treasure trove of information in boxes (that Kirsten complained of everytime they moved), it is published on the this web site In a Spirit of Caring.

Add current articles by the best dental teachers on the planet and there is a wonderful mix of classic and current thinking on the people part of dentistry.

Merit Badges

Lynn is best known as the author of In a Spirit of Caring, the highly praised book on understanding and finding meaning in the doctor/patient relationship.

He practiced restorative and preventive dentistry in Fort Collins, Colorado for 37 years, where he experienced the good times and bad times of being a dentist.

He has been on the board of the L.D. Pankey Institute, been president of the Bob Barkley Foundation and a associate member of the Center for the Studies of the Person where he studied psychology with Carl Rogers PhD and his associates. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.

He has written articles, published a newsletter, and developed wellness programs for a university, hospital, businesses and a school district.

He also does consultations, coaching. speaking engagements, and workshops for study groups and dental practices on the people part of dentistry.

This listing of his merit badges is not to blow his own horn, but to let you know that he is not talking from an esoteric ivory tower but has paid the price as a front line dentist.

Why this web site?

Lynn reports that he developed the In a Spirit of Caring web site:

  • to help ISOC members prosper by developing exceptional dentist-team-patient/client relationships,
  • to pass on the legacy of health-centered and relationship-based dentistry,
  • to help develop leaders in these challenging times
  • to provide the leading edge thinking on the people part of dentistry
  • to provide a forum for dentists practicing h/c or r/b dentistry
  • to be a leading voice in the future of this way of practicing.
