Defending your boundaries
Lynn D Carlisle DDS
Dental people need to have boundaries just like countries do and you need to defend them. If you don’t have boundaries, you will constantly be invaded by demands, questions, phone calls, and interruptions. Well expressed boundaries that are discussed in team meetings will help the office systems flow smoothly. Don’t wait until you snap someone’s head off or run out of the room crying to express and defend your boundaries. This can create a war. List the interruptions that drive you crazy in a team meeting. Then come up with the one’s you can eliminate and how you can eliminate them. Create systems for the one’s you can’t eliminate to reduce the frustration level. Revisit these periodically to see how you are doing. Remember well expressed and defined boundaries with lead to a harmonious team.
