Storytelling in the dental office

Stu Wallet, an ISOC member recommended an article in the latest Harvard Business Review - June 2003. The title is "Storytelling that moves people - a conversation with Robert McKee".

The article is about the importance of storytelling in persuading people to act. McKee is a best known Hollywood screenwriter.

The key to story telling is to engage peoples emotions thru stories when you want to get an idea across. McKee relates the principles of storytelling to the world of business.

The ability to weave stories into your Initial Interview/ROF experience and into moving your patients to action when treatment is needed makes you much more effective in helping people.

The article is worth reading. You can order a reprint from HBR by phoning 1-800-274-3214. Ask for reprint RO306B. The cost is $6.00.

ISOC has also published an article on Storytelling. Go to the search feature on the home page and type in Storytelling to access the article.
